Cleveland’s Big Chill has three main bedrooms and a basement with two additional rooms. In the top loft, there is a king size bed that sleeps two adults very comfortably, or an entire sleepover of kids. The morning sunrise rolls up above the horizon each morning lighting the lake and the beach visible right from the bed through the eastward facing picture windows. And so we recommend that adults commandeer the room for themselves. The loft also has its own bathroom with a standing shower too.

On the main floor, there are two additional rooms with unique bunk beds. The top is the usual twin size, but below on the bottom bunk, there is a full bed, easily capable of sleeping two adults. And so each room can easily house three people, bringing the total on the top and main floor to eight occupants comfortably. There also is another bathroom on the main floor with a shower and tub.

The main floor also includes the galley kitchen and a living area situated in front of the wood-burning fireplace. Even in the late spring or early summer, an evening fire can take the chill out of the air. In the winter, the fireplace also has a fan that blows air out into the main living area, making the entire level warm and comfortable.

That floorplan might be enough for most guests, but if you would like to add a few more folks, or just want more elbow room for you and your family, the cottage also features a fully-furnished basement.

Downstairs, guests will find a second, full living area complete with a wood burning fireplace, an entertainment center with TV/DVD and comfortable couches and chairs for sitting and relaxing. Behind the living area is another single bed. And right next to the living area is a third bathroom with a shower and another room with a twin bed. This level is a walkout basement with two sliding glass doors that open up right to the lake and a secluded patio area where guests can sit and relax with coffee or a beer in the evening.

We call this basement level the “kids” level giving them a place to play or watch TV while the adults sit and relax upstairs in the peace and quiet.

So for big groups or small ones, Cleveland’s Big Chill is an ideal Beaver Island getaway any time of year.
